The keyboard wedge BluePiano injects captured Bluetooth SPP (SPP = serial port profile) data into arbitrary apps: the received Bluetooth data appears as entered manually.

This new input method provides a Bluetooth-enabled soft-keyboard. It  captures data from Bluetooth SPP / Bluetooth RFCOMM devices (serial port profile) and forwards it automatically to the edit field of the active app. BluePiano works with all Bluetooth SPP devices (Bluetooth devices supporting the Serial Port Profile or RFCOMM). Special Android-enabled bar code scanners are NOT required. Please note: HID devices are not supported.

BluePiano is used to automate bar-code scanning with external Bluetooth barcode-scanners like the Motorola/Symbol CS3070 or for generic data acquisition tasks (e.g. to capture external GPS or medical device data). English, German, French, Russian and Swedish keyboard layouts are available.

BluePiano is easy to use, lost Bluetooth connections can be restored via a special key on the keyboard or via the notification bar (configurable in settings). For backup purposes BluePiano is also able to scan barcodes using camera barcode scanners (either using the built-in or an external camera scanner app).

SECURITY: This App does not require Internet or SMS permissions. Your data is safe - spying/phishing/keylogging is impossible.

KNOWN PROBLEMS: Some Android handsets are using buggy Bluetooth firmware and SPP communication may not work reliable. You will see SPP errors in the Bluetooth Device Manager of BluePiano (long tap on the ?123 key of the BluePiano keyboard). The following procedure may help:
- Switch of Bluetooth and stop all related apps
- Reboot handset
- Switch Bluetooth on
- Re-pair with your device
- Use BluePiano

BluePiano automates data-entry. This keyboard wedge injects captured Bluetooth SPP data into arbitrary apps: the data appears as entered manually.

Soft-keyboard with integrated camera bar-code scanner lets you scan wherever you can type (free demo).

This soft-keyboard scans and enters barcodes directly into input fields of arbitrary apps, batch scanning mode is supported. It reduces manual typing and eliminates copy and paste. A special key invokes the built-in or an external camera barcode scanner. The setup wizard makes it easy to install the app.

Scanned bar-codes are automatically entered into the current text field of the target app. English, German, French, Spanish, Swedish and Russian keyboard layouts are available, the keyboard layout is adjusted according to the system language of your Android.

The app can be configured to use target-application specific control keys for cursor movements or to modify the keystroke simulation mode (useful for browser or remote desktop applications / RDP).

GetBlue provides automated data acquisition and manual device communication for Bluetooth SPP devices, serial USB devices, TCP/IP, HTTP and camera barcode-scanners.

OVERVIEW: The full version of GetBlue collects data from Bluetooth SPP, serial USB, TCP/IP, HTTP and camera scanners automatically in the background. The captured data is forwarded to adjustable target devices, files, online spreadsheets or even injected into 3rd party applications. Bi-directional device communication is supported, manual communication functions for reading and writing data are available as well.

DETAILS: The data acquisition app GetBlue can be operated like a cross-switch: it captures data from an adjustable data source and forwards it to any supported target. The following devices and protocols are currently available:
• Bluetooth SPP and Bluetooth RFCOMM
All serial Bluetooth devices supporting the Serial Port Profile (like SPP or RFCOMM barcode scanners) can be used. GetBlue supports Bluetooth client and Bluetooth server mode, thus device as well as PC connections are possible.
• Serial USB
May not work on some Androids. FTDI and Prolific chipsets are supported.
• TCP/IP Socket
Any device providing a raw TCP/IP socket.
• HTTP
HTTP GET and HTTP POST requests with adjustable parameters.
• Camera scanners
Any external camera scanner app can be used.
• Manual data input
Device commands can be entered manually

Captured data can be forwarded via Bluetooth, USB, TCP/IP and HTTP to any target device. In addition the collected data can be
• displayed (HEX or ASCII)
• stored locally in a file (including time-stamps)
• uploaded to a Google Docs Spreadsheet
• or injected into arbitrary apps on the smartphone via the GetBlue soft-keyboard (keyboard wedge operation).

APPLICATION SCENARIOS: GetBlue is used as keyboard wedge (scanning barcodes with a Bluetooth scanner and injecting the bar code data into arbitrary apps), as automated data logger (e.g. uploading captured data to a Google Docs spreadsheet or storing it into a local file), for controlling Bluetooth devices, as low-cost barcode scanner connected to a PC, etc.
