GPS Notification displays information about your GPS signal strength in your notification bar. It updates in real time, and gives more detail when you pull down the notification bar.

This application turns on automatically when the GPS is in use, and turns off automatically when the GPS is not in use. There is no need to launch another application, you can just look at your notification bar!
