You send your application an SMS, the contents of the SMS will be displayed in a text box and then the app send the sender a return SMS and also the same SMS is send as an e-mail.
You will learn how to intercept an SMS.

This is a training app and source code is available at http://www.vijaymukhi.com/android/a2.zip. It demonstrates that the API that send an SMS does not also log the SMS. This is why we can send one SMS to a person but log that SMS in our SMS logs as something else.
Key in the phone no and the two SMS. You are good to go.

This app is not meant to be a finished app but should be used to understand the Android API's. No Error checks, no handling exceptions, code that barely works.
