Hybrid vehicles operate effortlessly by combining an electricity-run motor, a gasoline engine and maximum-powered batteries. The battery gives off energy for the electric motor and recharges when it recaptures the energy that is usually lost when the car is lessening its acceleration or while it is coasting.

It is best to put distinguish hybrid cars into two categories in order to understand better the functions of the batteries, the engine and the electric motor put together. There are two kinds of hybrids: the mild hybrids and the full hybrids. Each of these kinds have different approaches when combining the three components.

1. Mild hybrids

In this type of hybrid car, the electric motor is only an assistant when it comes to operating the main propulsion. It is the gas engine that gives the major energy needed.

In this setup, the motor is dependent on the gas engine for its operation. The electric motor is capable of eating up electricity from the batteries, or it can come up with energy for it, but the electric motor cannot do these functions at the same time.

2. Full hybrids

The distinction of the full hybrid from the mild variety is that the electric motor and the gas engine can operate on its own. In most instances, the electric motor can function by itself in low speed, and once it picks up, the gasoline engine automatically takes over. Both the motor and the engine can function together if the car is in hard acceleration.

This combined effort provides the car the power that it needs for that situation. Full hybrid cars can consume and build up electricity simultaneously.

The Prius runs on a technology called the Hyrbid Synergy Drive, which involves a power split device to combine the energy of the electric motor and the gas engine. The HSD enables a effortless switching of power sources that the car driver would not notice in the slightest while driving.

Unlike the other mild hybrid types, the Prius can be operated by the electric motor alone powered by the battery pack. As a result, a motorist can drive silently for short amounts of time.

While speeding up on a highway, the Prius utilizes the gas engine as its main operator, and can get assistance from the generator if needed. Then this hybrid car shuts off the gas engine automatically during stops. This contributes greatly in mileage improvement and produces less emission.

Every year, interest rates are increasing and the cost of heating is definitely going up. And whether we admit it or not, we sometimes find our selves running out of money.

However, if you compare an average house to an energy efficient residence, you’ll find out that it is very possible to lessen your annual energy consumption to almost 40 percent. There are lots of ways to conserve home energy which consequently lowers your energy bills. And most of the changes that you can do for your home are also helpful to the environment.

Here are some ways to conserve energy in your home:

·  Heating and Air Conditioning

1.  If you’re going out of an air conditioned room for a long time, be sure to turn off the A/C unit.
2.  Rooms that are not used often should have sealed vent.
3.  You can also install ceiling fans that are remote controlled than have a built-in heater.
4.  When the room is occupied, put the thermostat in a comfortable setting.
5.  When the fireplace isn’t used, close the damper in the fireplace

·  Laundry Appliances

1.  Avoid using your washing machine in partial loads. It is better if you meet the capacity of the machine.
2.  Dirty clothes must be pre-soaked for hours. This will prevent you from running your machine twice.
3.  For the garments that aren’t very dirty, put small quantity of detergent and put your machine to a lighter wash setting.
4.  Electric drier consumes more energy in drying clothes so better apply the conventional way of drying your garments.
5.  Ironing clothes should be done at one time and during off-peak hours.

·  Refrigerators and Freezers

1.  Refrigerators and freezers must be defrosted regularly.  Frost build-up can increase the load of the compressor motor.
2.  Inspect your refrigerator and look for a leaking gasket.
3.  Avoid constant opening and closing of the refrigerator’s door because it can contribute to ice or frost build-up.

·  Lighting

1.  Switch off unused lights as well as other appliance that use electricity.
2.  Utilize low wattage yet efficient lamps.
3.  Replace your incandescent bulb with fluorescent lamp.

Those are just a handful of tips to lower your energy bills.  There are many other factors which can also guide you in conserving your home energy.

Possibly most known as the best herding dogs in the canine world, Australian Shepherds are also highly intelligent and easily trained.  Due to their inherent breeding traits as a herder, which include a well-developed protective instinct, Aussies make good watch dogs.  They will certainly bark warnings if they suspect danger, but they are not excessive noise makers.  They are generally loyal, playful, and affectionate dogs that love to cuddle and make terrific companions.  
Australian Shepherds make wonderful family pets, provided the family has plenty of time for them.  Just like many intelligent dogs, Aussies can become bored easily, especially if they’re left alone for extended periods of time.  They will chew up virtually anything if they get restless, and are notorious hole diggers and escape artists.  An Aussie that receives plenty of exercise will have very few of these problems.  As you can imagine, a dog that renown for its herding skills needs plenty of vigorous exercise.  Exercise can be given to Aussies in a variety of ways.  Running free in a field such as a dog park is ideal.  You can also give your Aussie some real work to do, such as carrying a pack on a walk.  You can also play games of catch with a ball or a Frisbee, and/or take them for long runs.  They thrive in being part of the action and are willing company on outings such as fishing or hunting trips. Or they’d simply love to be with you while you did a little yard work at home.

Andreas Kalvos Poems (v. 1.3)

Andreas Kalvos (Greek: Ανδρέας Κάλβος; 1792 - November 3, 1869) was a contemporary of Dionysios Solomos and one of the greatest Greek poets of the 19th century. Paradoxically enough, no known portrait of his survives today.


Carried away in the enthusiasm of the outbreak of the Greek revolution he published, in 1824, the first part of his Greek poems, "The Lyre", a collection of ten odes. Almost immediately, the odes were translated into French and found a most favourable reception. In the beginning of 1825, Kalvos returned to Paris where one year later he published ten more odes, "Lyrics".

Dionysios Solomos Poems (v. 1.1)

Dionysios Solomos (Greek: Διονύσιος Σολωμός, 8 April 1798 - 9 February 1857) was a Greek poet from Zakynthos.


He is best known for writing the Hymn to Liberty (Greek: Ύμνος Εις Την Ελευθερίαν), of which the first two stanzas, set to music by Nikolaos Mantzaros, became the Greek national anthem in 1865. He was the central figure of the Heptanese School of poetry, and is considered the national poet of Greece - not only because he wrote the national anthem, but also because he contributed to the preservation of earlier poetic tradition and highlighted its usefulness to modern literature. Other notable poems include Ο Κρητικός (Τhe Cretan), Ελεύθεροι Πολιορκημένοι (The Free Besieged) and others. A characteristic of his work is that no poem except the Hymn to Liberty was completed, and almost nothing was published during his lifetime.


Dionysius Solomos has been called by many the "father of modern Greek poetry" in that it was he who, in the opening decades of the nineteenth century, rebaptized Greek poetry in the ancestral springs of inspiration and language and gave it an orientation that has been followed by such major poets as Palamas, Sikelianos and Seferis. "With Solomos," Zissimos Lorenzatos has written, "the problem of artistic expression enters our cultural life, as the problem of independence entered our national life."

Ο Διονύσιος Σολωμός (8 Απριλίου 1798 - 9 Φεβρουαρίου 1857) ήταν Ζακυνθινός Έλληνας ποιητής, περισσότερο γνωστός για τη συγγραφή του ποιήματος Ύμνος εις την Ελευθερίαν το 1823, οι πρώτες δυο στροφές του οποίου έγιναν ο ελληνικός εθνικός ύμνος. Κεντρικό πρόσωπο της Επτανησιακής σχολής, ο Διονύσιος Σολωμός θεωρήθηκε και θεωρείται ο εθνικός ποιητής της Ελλάδας, όχι μόνον γιατί έγραψε τον Εθνικό Ύμνο, αλλά και γιατί αξιοποίησε την προγενέστερη ποιητική παράδοση (κρητική λογοτεχνία, Δημοτικό τραγούδι) και ήταν ο πρώτος που καλλιέργησε συστηματικά τη δημοτική γλώσσα και άνοιξε τον δρόμο για τη χρησιμοποίησή της στη λογοτεχνία, αλλάζοντας ακόμη περισσότερο τη στάθμη της.
