Fun! Lots of levels of difficulty allow everyone to find something in this game. The graphics are good and it looks just as nice on a phone as a tablet. It would be nice if its rating system estimated the ELO standing that that level of difficulty approximates instead of the somewhat arbitrary ranking it gives you currently. I would like if it showed you were on a streak in addition to just the W-D-L format it has now.

Fantastic chess game I've played the free version (Chess Free) a ton, so I figured I might as well buy the no-ads version. Truth be told, the ads weren't annoying at all, but I just wanted to support the developer. All in all, I strongly recommend this game if you like chess; if you don't, give the free version a whirl. Maybe you'll change your mind.

Overall very well designed chess app. Very attractive. I love that you can save games and go back and review them move by move, but can you please add the ability to jump back into a certain move and then continue the game? That would be helpful. When I go back and find a blunder, I want to be able to stay over from there to see how it would go had I played better. Thanks!

Excellent... I liked it so much I bought it just to support the developer, the ads in the free version really weren't that bad.

Very polished It's a very polished app with a clean interface. This is a non-multiplayer app and you play against the computer which is what I wanted, but even on the lowest difficulty of 1 of 10 it's far too difficult to really beat as a beginner. Rarely makes a mistake (maybe every 20 games it does) and gets you in complex traps quickly. Definitely NOT for beginners, not even remotely. Seems great for pros.

Needs a difficulty level between 4 & 5 On level 4, the computer makes idiotic mistakes. On level 5 I find it almost unbeatable.

Well made app not for beginners I tried to pick up chess after several years of not playing, even on easy mode this game is impossible to beat. After losing 28/30 or so rounds I got frustrated and gave up. Please make the easy levels easier!

Great game but sucks the battery. I enjoyed playing it and whenever I had time to waste I opened it. I realized that even after stopped playing, my battery ran flat in 1-2 hours. Lost at lowest level Computers can beat the best chess players in the world. The real measure of a chess engine is if it can lose. I lost to the lowest setting. I'm admittedly a bad chess player. It should be possible to make the computer much worse than I am.

Great but... This is certainly the best chess engine around but it has a couple of annoyances and both to do with the same thing, the en-passant rule. While the engine will capture en-passant, it has not once allowed me to make the same legal move. En-passant is not always accepted as a legitimate rule. In some tournaments the decision to accept the rule is made before the start of the game. Most chess engines have an "Allow En-Passant" setting. This does not, which is a shame.

Great game, couple quirks... As a whole, this is an all-around well made game. There are a couple quirks, such as the game freezing while a text message comes in (I use Handcent). Also, the prob.-based game engine has a huge jump in difficulty between levels 4 and 5. Odd. Overall, great game.

Worth support for the Developer Getting back into chess and this is a great start for me. Board & pieces are gorgeous and play is great. . Lower challenge setting tho I question some of the stupid moves it makes. On level 3 now to see how it goes. Also running nook Color tablet & Cm7 SD card. For some reason sometimes lose the soft status bar with the back and menu selection for game. And stuck to no way to call up menu to restart,resign,etc.. And have to go to manage app and force it to close and reset to get back to start screen for game. Would be perfect if they added a menu button on actual game board also for those quirky times that the soft keys are not there for whatever reason. Had the Free version but loved it enough that the developer easily earned my money. Which is now possible with the New Google Play Gift Cards as no CC required!

Addicting fun Great game. My only suggestion is a confirm move option. Sometimes it is difficult to see counter moves without your piece being in place. Kinda like keeping your finger/hand on the piece in a physical board game.

Buggy after latest update It was really great until the last update but seems the update screwed up things a bit, now in a single player game the opposite pawns sometimes move illegally forward diagonally without taking a piece.
