vmwClient (v. 1.8) Разработано freeroam.me |
vmwClient is handy and intuitive Android application purposed for the remote, efficient and secure management of VMWare infrastructure.
Key features
•Supports vSphere 5.0
•NO ANY ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE like proxies, mediators or extra VMWare configuration is needed as vmwClient accesses VMWare instances DIRECTLY as the original vSphere client does.
•Easy to handle, informative and intuitive interface.
•Simultaneous management of multiple vCenters and standalone hosts. vmwClient can hold connection to the several servers at the same time and doesn't require performing logout when switching to another host.
•vmwClient allows to store numerous credentials and host configurations.
•Well-granulated network operations. vmwClient loads only required Inventory information and is great for intermittent and paid channel like GPRS/3G/WCDMA.
•Very flexible and fast growing - our target is to make the product as close as possible to vSphere client in terms of functionality keeping it usable and handy on mobiles at the same time.
•Controlling of VM Desktops over VNC protocol.
•Editing of VM Virtual Hardware: Processor Num, Memory, SCSI Controllers, Hard Disks, CDs, Video Card.
•Browsing of Datastore mounts on ESX(i) over SSH
•VM Snapshot Management - full support
Available VMWare operations
•The basic VM/host management operations - start, stop, reset, summary etc.
•Real-time performance capturing of the VMs/hosts virtual/physical hardware parameters.
•Real-time collecting of the basic events of the CURRENTLY BROWSED Inventory elements.
•vMotion support.
•VM desktop screenshot capturing & controlling over VNC
•The following Datastore file operations supported: browse, download/upload, delete, cut/paste, rename, etc.
•Editing of VM Settings(Virtual Hardware).
• VM Snapshot Management - take a snapshot, revert to the current snapshot, browse snapshot tree, delete/delete all, edit info, go to a snapshot
Requirements
•Android 1.6 or higher
•Internet connection to the Updates Server
•Internet/Intranet connection to the VMWare instances
IMPORTANT:
•Requires subscription after the 3 months of usage:
- 1.99$ for 3 months
- 3.49$ for 6 months
- 5.99$ for 1 year
•If you have any technical problems please send an email to support@freeroam.me with the description of a bug/issue or better post it to http://www.freeroam.me/forum/ so other users will keep track of the way how to solve or walkaround it. Posting your troubles in the product reviews WILL NOT help us to fix them shortly as well as to determine if it's the application bug at all.
•Those who use ESXi instances MUST have full ESXi license from VMWare in order to let vmwClient (and ANY other 3rd party client as well) perform ANY Inventory control operations. The free ESXi license will allow only READ ONLY operations for any 3rd party client
•Datastore mount browsing tips:
- Our client browses the Datastore mounts on ESX(i) over SSH protocol (the desktop client does it over HTTPS acting always as root), hence you have to be sure that the SSH server is running on ESX(i) and the corresponding user has appropriate rights for the operations you would like to perform.
- It's strongly advised to use passwords at least 8 characters length.
- NOTE: the Private Key authentication WILL NOT WORK on Android OS ver less than 2.3 (Android Platform known issue).
•We strongly advise to keep your device Wi-Fi connection UP in device sleep mode. This will allow vmwClient to proceed normally in device sleep mode and prevent any lags, data loss (pulled from the network) and usage of 3G instead of Wi-Fi.
To keep your device Wi-Fi connection up in sleep mode go to Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Wi-Fi settings then press device 'Menu' button and press 'Advanced'. Set Wi-Fi sleep policy to 'Never'.

[2011-11-21] Jon: Subscription I used to use this app a lot. Now, the author wants me to pay a subscription? I don't think so. If you want money from an app, then charge via market. |

[2011-11-20] Andrew: Paid for it now it wants more $$ I paid for this app months ago and now it moved to a subscription service and wants more money. Uninstalling. |

[2011-11-13] MichaelS.: Alway license check error (wifi & 3g & 2g) Never works as expected. Customer support does not seem to care customer more than their assets. CAREFULLY READ REVIEW BEFORE PURCHASE!!! |

[2011-10-27] Guy Halse: :-( Doesn't seem to work with vSphere ESXi 5.0. Also licensing conditions aren't great - subscription model implies working market an Internet access to launch th app, which isn't always easily available on secured management networks. So have to choose between vpn+mobile data charges (assuming i can get reception in a data centre) or secured wireless+crippled app. |

[2011-10-09] EasyME: Dissapointed very Succumb to having it removed. Subscription mandatory..so be ware... Doesn't live up to a product worthy of subscription. |

[2011-07-24] 0ryn: Mostly ok Screenshot doesn't work. But it does let you see which vms are running, start/stop/reset them etc. Even better if you setup vnc console on your vms. |

[2011-06-30] rainabba: Sorely disappointed It looks like such a great app but it has a serious design flaw. It has license checking which requires the device running the app (in my case a wifi-only tablet with no internet access in our datacenter) to connect to the internet to validate the app license. My experience says that is best-practice to prevent network intrusion. That makes the app useless for me. Hope to see this oversight corrected so power users and admins can use the app. |
