It calculates the depth of field (DoF) details and the hyperfocal distance for the given parameters, camera, focal length, aperture, and subject distance. It's also a field of view (FoV) calculator, calculates the required photo count for panoramic photography. It includes a database of 1,847 cameras.

[2012-10-06] Robert: Rob Gives inaccurate DOF readings - it consistently over estimates DOF. I checked it against 6 other DOF calculators, they were all abut the same but this one was way over every time. |

[2012-06-20] Josef: Screenshots are misleading I would like to get my money back!! With so many free DoF calculators available, I thought that this must be something special since it costs $3. But it has many flaws. You can not choose your own CoC, which is a minus. Why use the term Eff. Focal lenght? It is confusing. It should be simply focal length, because that is what the inscription on lenses is. Aperture input - there are some presets there, but F3.5, F5.6 and so on are not there. You can manually input what you want, but why not have real life presets? Subject distance is entered in cm, but is displayed in metres. The number pads used for inputing variables are fiddly, and they disappear too quickly, requiring several attempts to enter a variable. The main shortcomming - the DoF display. It is not dynamic. It is a static diagram which shows a finite far limit, even if the calculated far limit is infinity!!! For goodness sake, how can you ask money for this sort of product?? I want refund! |

[2011-06-13] Egor: One of the best DoF cals This is a very good app, very clear design - which is really important. I hate those nerdish DoF calcs that only give you numbers with very poor visualisation if at all. I wish it had a bit more convenient control of changing the variables. I would suggest the dev to look at how controls are made in the DOF Calc Pro by Oleg Burdaev - this other app is a good rival in terms of speed of use, but it lacks the fancy design. |
