GedStar Pro (free trial) works with a genealogy program on your PC to show all the details of your family history. Converts directly from "The Master Genealogist" and "Legacy Family Tree", or from a GEDCOM file. Displays all your data including events, notes, sources, repositories, and photos. Some product-specific features are also available, such as the research log or to-do list.
There are four basic views: Personal Details; Family Group; Ancestor Tree; and Descendant Tree. There are several ways to navigate up and down a line of descent, and to search for specific people. An extensive menu of other features is available, such as for viewing your complete family photo gallery.
This app requires the separate purchase of a Windows conversion program, which is available with a free trial period from our website. A sample database is included with the Android app so you can explore the user interface without having to convert your own data.
The database is stored on your external (or internal) SD card and there are no limits on the number of people or amount of other data. It has been tested on a database of over 40,000 individuals.

[2013-06-07] A Google User: A Bit of Tweaking and a Great Program I downloaded the Free App for Gedstar Pro. I use Family Tree Maker 2005 ( I have 2009/2011) and had to convert my data to Gedcom. Once my files were transferred, my database came though great as did my notes. All media and photo’s did not transfer when using Gedcom. I do like the appearance of the Gedstar and information looks quite easy to access. So I wanted to try and find another way to get a carbon copy of my family Tree File. I found a long way around it – I downloaded the free version of The Master Genealogist - This program will run your full version of FTM plus a heap more genealogy Programs. Their website only name a few, when importing your files to TMG it gives many Genealogy program formats. Once I had confirmed that all my genealogy data had transferred to The Master Genealogist. I then transferred the file back to Gedstar Pro Android. I now have an android Carbon Copy of my family Tree, including 2400 images and almost 15,000 names. I am very Happy. |

[2013-06-01] A Google User: Couldn't Open File Okay I followed the instructions. I exported the GED file from Family Tree Maker. I installed Ged Star Pro on Windows. I converted the file, but it converts to. gtw format and the Android version will only open .gedstar files. I could never get the conversion to work so that I got a file that I could open on my Acer Iconia. Uninstalled...disappointed. |

[2013-05-24] A Google User: No success Converted GEDCOM to GedStar format, copied to Droid SDCard, and file doesn't show up in the Data List in GedStar. Bummer. And it looked good. Too bad. |

[2013-03-05] A Google User: Wow. Very easy and clear, used it several times in family gatherings. Database converter works fine. Very effective design for sharing on the go. Brought this into a small extended family gathering with my son and new wife, handed the droid to them, and they follow as we went through pix on the monitor. |

[2013-01-12] A Google User: Installed ok but.... Seems a good little app, like it but the black action bar at top with menu button wasn't showing, so I could only access the people, family views etc and 2 blue arrows. Prompt replies from support, but seems it could be my tablet, tho all my other apps showtheir menu buttons! So for me it is all but useless. Uninstalled and downloaded Ancestry app which works fine. Accesses list view and all other info on our tree. So if u hav Ancestry account and tree, no need for gedstar. BTW I'm on android 4.0.4. |

[2013-01-03] A Google User: Disappointing No, it won't view a GEDCOM file. The file has to be converted first, using a proprietary program. Very disappointing. |
