File Explorer (v. 1.0.rc1)

FX File Explorer is a file manager / media manager with networking and cloud capabilities.  FX is designed to let you quickly and easily manage all content on your phone or tablet.

Google Drive and Google Docs support are now available (in the full version, but it's free to use during the beta).

During beta, all features of FX File Explorer are free, including network, cloud, and root access.  After the beta period ends, this version will become the "Lite" version.  After the beta, FX will retain all local file management capabilities, including search, archival, the text editor, and file viewers.  The network, cloud, and media features will be available as an add-on.  The root features will be available as an add-on.  The FX add-on modules will be inexpensive.  You can turn off paid features immediately in the settings if desired.  No version of FX File Explorer will have ads.

ROOT ACCESS: Please download the FX root module from http://goo.gl/kExIH if you are interested in testing it.  The FX root module is free-to-use until the beta period ends.

* OBEX Push server for receiving files (optional, most devices natively provide this service)

NOTES:

* Streaming video playback: Format support is dependent upon which third-party playback software is installed on your device.  Android typically natively supports MP4 and 3GP.  FX can play AVI, FLV, MKV, and WMV formats *IF* you install appropriate third-party players available from other vendors on the Google Play Store.

* GDrive / GDocs: Cut/pasted documents will be converted to Microsoft Office Formats by default.  Use "Open With" to download them in the format of your choice.

Nice I like this file manager app. It has a nice and clean interface. The items are shown categorized. When browsed the top of the app has a nifty bread crumbs interface. I can go two steps back or even to home folder with one touch ... No problems.. Icons are just the right size. Perfecto ! I tried three other top file manager apps. Till now this one is the best in items of usability, options and looks.

Well done I don't like the aggressive marketing style - got it! I'll have to pay soon! - but the app is very good, and it's also the only one that makes use of all the available bandwidth over SFTP, apart from AndFTP. It's a serious file / media / cloud manager for non-rooted devices, the most capable I've used so far. The only remark is that the icons are horrible and completely inadequate.

Likable To my eye it has the the best-looking interface of all the competing file managers. Use is straightforward but there is documentation if you need it. Note that a simple text editor/viewer is installed too.

Great Fast File Manager I used to use Astro and Estrong, but this one is awesome. It is fast and has a great user interface. The streaming support for SMB and SSHFS are near-perfect (only missing PubKey auth, but few things offer) Works great for local, root, and remote management with great multitasking w/ its "windows "

So close to greatness The two things that continue to bother me about this app is that it completely lacks a move function, and the ability to change permissions. You can copy files but you cannot simply move them from one directory to another. This forces me to have a separate app simply for that one function, because sometimes (depending on file size and other considerations) copying and then deleting isn't feasible. At best, it's a hassle.

Almost there... This is a wonderful file manager. The network support and root browsing abilities are fantastic, and the interface is aesthetically quite pleasing. However, the "List" view issue persists; it displays multiple columns of files instead of a single column on higher DPI screens. Please give us the option to display a single column! Maybe consider implementing something that looks more like the "Details" view from the age-old Windows Explorer?

Absolutely beautiful I've had this app for 5 months and its never given me any troubles. The interface is simple but offers so many options and functions that others fail to implement into their file browsers. Its easily one of the most used apps on my tablet.

The absolute best file management system EVER!! This tool not only allows easy file manipulation but does so much more. It connects to your cloud storage in the form of Box or DropBox and works seamlessly to provide you with a simplified storage access experience. It connects to SSH FTP and FTP sites and makes everything look like its local. The tools for disk management are great too and it just keeps getting better. Im not sure how much this will be once it out of beta, but im sure its going to be worth the price.

The image viewer is completely lacking in features, such as 'cropping' an image to set as your wallpaper. When viewing pictures through a cloud, I can't see them 'on-the-fly' like I can if they were stored locally. Instead I have to open each pic individually to view what I'm looking for. Also needs bitmap and gif support, and needs to read images above and around 2500x2500 dimensions.. I get the "unable to read image" errors everytime I open these.

I Love This! I love this more than Astro and ES. 1.) The background is your own wallpaper. 2.) When I click File System, it will display an organized details of the entire file systems, from Android Core to the very least other file systems, which is you will think that it is more than a Professional File Manager, it is even Ultimate. 3.) Can I call it ICS-inspired UI?

Finally! A real file explorer for Android! Once you reach a certain level of features, file explorer apps are all interchangeable except for the interface. Nextapp has figured that out and has no serious competition. You can't go wrong with this.

Best time manager I've tried to date. Hands down the best. Found a bug when moving a large file on Google drive to new folder in Google drive. Then minimize app will keep the moving progress in your notification bar indefinitely until u move another file. Otherwise 5 stars

good but... Unless I am missing it, I cannot find a way to find detailed information about a file when using the " file selection" tool to select an attchment for an email. e.g. - i want to attach a spreadsheet to an email but I want to check the date modified to see if it is the correct file. I was unable to do this when accessing FX through the file selection window.
