MythMote is an open source android application that controls MythTV frontends. Control is obtained through the frontend's raw text-based TCP socket interface.

One of my most used apps I had been putting off getting a proper remote for my front end, but with Mythmote... I don't need one. I have this installed on my phone, and have it installed on my wifes tablet.

I can't live without it Awesome app a lot simpler than infra red remotes etc I can't live without it. As for the spacebar using a -dash or under_score is my walkaround. Dev maybe on the next update you could make that as default space character.

Almost Perfect Works better than my IR remote, though not always as easy to just grab and use. If I had one request it would be some customisable bindings like an IR remote.

Sick of LIRC? Get mythmote! Although the interface is not *quite* as sexy as the Apple remote I've been using, it is more feature complete and it doesn't break every time there's a kernel update (curse you LIRC!!!!), so this is totally awesome! Even better, it saved me having to buy a bluetooth adapter in order to pair my android phone to my htpc as a keyboard. The only thing that could make this better would be a customizable 'favorites' tab that would let me choose only which buttons I needed. I don't use many buttons and it's slightly annoying to have to switch between 'navigation' and 'media' tabs for the handful of buttons I actually use (basically just arrow keys, select, volue, and rw/ff). Still less annoying than LIRC!!!

Much easier than LIRC It's so much easier to setup and use than an actual remote with LIRC. Works perfectly on my Gingerbread phone and my wifes Honeycomb tablet. Great app!

Just wait a few seconds before exiting the app and it'll never crash your frontend. Also it helps to start mythfrontend in a 'while' loop so it auto restarts if you forget and are impatient.
