Cleartune is a chromatic instrument tuner and pitch pipe that allows you to quickly and accurately tune your instrument using the built-in mic in your Android device. Nearly the Best, but it does have it's Deficiencies For the most part a very inexpensive, flexible and accurate app. For the professional, using various temperaments, and actually needing to tune movable frets to separate sharps and flats, this app lacks the one thing that would make it perfection over my VioLab tuner. Until custom programmable temperaments are available in the Android app, or the ability to tune sharps and flats separately in meantone temperaments, I have to rate it low. Sorry.

Laggy This app seems very professional but when you actually use it it often takes a few seconds for it to register what the note is. Also,there is a bug which means that it never works properly immediately after opening. Not really worth £4. Use the free g strings tuner instead

Pretty good, but still lacking. It's great, except I need a faster & easier way to adjust the reference frequency. I tune pipe organs and it's time consuming to enter the menu and type in a new frequency repeatedly to match the tuner to an existing reference pitch, or taking the median of a group of frequencies. Also, I need the ability to enter custom tunings. For instance, i have an instrument tuned in Fisk II, which is not included.

Good Should contain a plus and minus button so you can controllably obtain a desired frequency without having to find it by turning the wheel. Other than it is wonderful and I use it all the time to tune my trumpet!

Good but needs work on temperaments Very effective on Galaxy S3. I use my own temperament tuning; got 2 problems: 1) App does not provide a way to enter negative values when entering a temperament. I cut & pasted a negative sign into the listing - it worked! But needs a negative button. 2) Tuning comes out 8 cents high overall, compared with my Sonic Research Turbo Tuner (with accuracy traceable to NIST). App needs a way of zeroing the 440 A.

Verified piano tuning. Just paid a guy to tune my piano, and thought it was worth the $3.99 to verify what he did. I had not had it tuned for a while, and Cleartune verified what he said he did. The middle notes locked exactly in tune, and the higher/lower notes are off a little. It was worth it to play with it. Now I will write down how far off each key is and see when it starts to get out of tune to know when to have it done again. Yes I could maybe learn how to do it myself, but you would need some tools and watch a lot of Youtube. Just knowing when to have it done is probably worth the app price. It's amazing how well this app works. It locks right in to the key and tells me which key I pressed.

Custom temperaments don't work Custom temperaments is why I bought it and this feature doesn't load the custom settings that I enter. Developers haven't been any help, they're going to look in to it. DaTuner Pro is what I've found since (cheaper also) and it works perfectly.

IPhone version much better I used to have this on my iPhone so when I upgraded to an android phone (HTC one x) I bought it again. The best tuner on the market I had this tuner on my iPhone. I have it on my Samsung Galaxy S2. It had more functions on android than iPhone. I love this tuner. Never had to use a plug in device when using it on either phone. Picks up everything and works great with my acoustic and electric (even unplugged) guitars. Love it!

A 'must-have' for every musician Useful, not only for all string players, but also for players of every type of keyboard instrument. It's perfect for tuning almost any historical temperament such as quarter-comma meantone and Valloti—in fact any temperament that the professional tuner is ever likely to be asked for. Perfect for harpsichord I have been using this to tune my double manual French harpsichord from my Iconia A100 tablet for the last six months and am astounded by the accuracy from the lowest to the highest notes. I do fine tune by ear once I am done, but seldom need much further adjustment other than at the top of the 4' register. I generally use Valotti or Kirnberger temperaments with a=415 and no longer need my expensive old standalone digital tuner to do so.
