A group of Japanese soldiers in WWII are escorting a large shipment of gold through the jungles of the occupied Philippines when they are ambushed by a group of bloody thirsty cannibals. As the Japanese soldiers are dismembered after a savage battle, the few survivors hide the hold and escape back to safety.
Now a group of greedy business men with ulterior motives have hired a mercenary team to escort them through the jungle and find the lost gold. They are used to dealing with the native cannibals and ferocious jungle animals, but this time the most deadly thing awaiting them might be one of their own.

Lo Lieh (Five Fingers of Death) reprises his role as the evil Pai Mei from Fist of the White Lotus in the classic old school tale of feudal China.

EVERYBODY WANTS TO TEACH HIM TO KILL!
This is one of super-kicker John Liu's best films. The standard story (grown son seeks revenge against the man who killed his father and raped his mother) is just an excuse to cram in as many training and fight scenes as possible.
To add to the thrill factor, Liu is trained here by not one, not two, not even three, but four masters of death...just to make sure that there's exceptional action every few minutes. Throw in pretty, pouty, fan fave Lung Chung Erh (Shaolin Invincibles) and you've got a prime example of classic "old skill killa" kung-fu!
ABOUT THE PRINT: This is better than average full-screening, which doesn't cut off the edges of all the fine kung-fu on display.

Acclaimed master of the French New Wave,  Jacques Rivette (The Duchess of Langeais, Celine and Julie Go Boating, Va Savoir) helms this offbeat look at love and relationships.  Marie (Emmanuelle Beart) is the object of affection for clock repairman Julien (Jerzy Radziwilowicz), who bides his time between his business, romancing Marie, and blackmailing the mysterious Madame X (Anne Brochet).
Sensual scenes unravel between the lovers, with Marie quickly moving in with Julien as their relationship flourishes.  But problems are afoot as Julien starts to notice something distinctly strange about his new love, and fears she is harboring a terrible secret.  To pry the truth out of her, he turns to Madame X for help, who seems to be the only person who can help him with his quandary.
A moving finale to Rivette's film subsequently unravels, leaving a haunting and indelible mark as the action builds to an unforgettable climax.

This is the story of Phoolan Devi, a lower-caste woman who achieved notoriety when she fought back against sexism and India's abusive caste system. At just 11 years old, Phoolan was forcibly wed to a man who purchased her from her family (cost: a bicycle and a cow). When her new husband beats and rapes her, the traumatized Phoolan runs away. Once she steps off the narrow path that poor women must follow, however, she becomes easy prey for the upper-class and powerful Thakurs. One of their clan, enraged when Phoolan fights off his advances, arranges to have her abducted and raped by a cruel band of outlaws. When the sympathetic bandit Vikram rescues her, the two form their own gang and Phoolan sets out to revenge herself... in the process becoming a heroine to many of her people.
