Sometime around our life, we just need to roughly measure the approximate height or length, not a real measurement; Therefore, if such a tool can be readily available, quick and user friendly.
The A-point is the location of the mobile device from the GPS of the device, the B-point is the location of your target building from you point on the the Google Map, you could get the distance from A to B. You can get the phone pitch angle by the phone camera aimed at the building. Based on h = d * tan (θ), the simple mathematical formula, we can get the height (defined as h).
This program utilizes the characteristics of smart phones, A point calibration by GPS system, and click on the Google Map to get the point B. When the user selected, the distance will automatically be calculated from A to B. You can detection critical pitch angle θ by preview mode of camera.
