«Шлем ужаса» – это современное переложение мифа о Тесее и Минотавре, своеобразная «пьеса», созданная в стилистике интернет-чата. Виктор Пелевин создал гипнотический мир, в котором сюрреальное сталкивается и сливается воедино с гиперреальным.

Персонажи и сюжеты античной мифологии органично встроены в структуру виртуального диалога XXI века. Открывая книгу, читатель вступает в лабиринт, состоящий из множества параллельных пространств и измерений. Этим лабиринтом является сам текст. Блуждающих по нему ждет Минотавр – чудовище, про которое известно только то, что на голове у него Шлем Ужаса…
