El protagonista asesina al anciano con el que convive, le despedaza y le esconde bajo las tablas del suelo de su casa. Al final se delata pensando que el corazon del anciano late bajo el suelo.

-EL GATO NEGRO:
No espero ni pido que nadie crea el extravagante pero sencillo relato que me dispongo a contar. Loco estaría, de veras, si lo esperase, cuando mis sentidos rechazan su propia evidencia. Sin embargo, no estoy loco, y ciertamente no sueño. Pero mañana moriré, y hoy quiero aliviar mi alma.

-LA MÁSCARA DE LA MUERTE ROJA:
En un pais que no mencionan el nombre se crea un peste de una enfermedad llamada la muerte roja en el que los sintomas eran un primero dolores agudos y un vertigo repentino y despues de eso lo poros liberaban una cantidad de sangre significante hasta que la persona llega a la muerte

Un joven se embarca en un buque de carga. Después de sobrevivir a una tormenta termina en otro buque mayor con una tripulación tan extraña como el propio barco, en el que se produce el fantástico desenlace de la historia.
