"Türk mutfağı, Çin ve Fransız mutfaklarıyla beraber dünyanın en zengin mutfaklarındandır. Coğrafyası ve tarihi gereği, Türk mutfağı çok büyük bir çeşitlilik oluşturur. Türk mutfağı, Mezopotamya ve Balkan mutfaklarıyla etkileşime girmiştir, İstanbul Osmanlı Saray mutfağı da Türk mutfağının önemli bir kısmını oluşturur. Türk mutfağı Türkiye'nin ulusal mutfağıdır. Osmanlı kültürünün mirasçısı olan Türk mutfağı hem Balkan ve Ortadoğu mutfaklarını etkilemiş hem de bu mutfaklardan etkilenmiştir. Ayrıca Türk mutfağı yörelere göre de farklılıklar gösterir. Karadeniz mutfağı, Güneydoğu mutfağı, Orta Anadolu mutfağı gibi birçok yöreler kendilerine ait zengin bir yemek haznesine sahiptirler.

Osmanlı Saray Mutfağı'ında çok çeşitli çorba, zeytinyağlı sebze, etli yemek, balık, börek, tatlı mönüleri mevcuttur. Saray mutfağı, Bizans İmparatorluğu'dan Osmanlı'ya yüzyılların saray zevki ve tecrübesiyle oluşan elit bir mutfaktır. O dönemlerde, Halk ve köy mutfağı ise sade ve basittir. Her yörenin ve köyün kendine özgü yemekleri bulunmaktadır. Günümüzde, Saray kültürü ile halk kültürünün karışımı bir ""Türk mutfağı"" ortaya çıkmıştır. Birçok saray yemeği, halk tarafından benimsenmiştir."
